Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series coming to Glen Helen August 6-7

Posted: August 2, 2011 in Uncategorized

The Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series has seen a great turnout and exciting racing this year, but the class that’s stealing the show so far is the premier Pro 2 Unlimited class.

So far, we’ve seen a variety of faces on the podium: Bryce Menzies took the opening win back in March. Last year’s champion Rob MacCrachren took back to back race wins in April. Carl Renezeder is leading the series after dominating the previous Glen Helen round in May. Rob Naughton has won three races total, including June’s race in Utah. And freestyle legend Brian Deegan, who has yet to win a race, has put together a string of consistent finishes which has him sitting second in points.

Could August be the Metal Mulisha general’s month?

At last month’s event in Utah, Renezeder gave up major ground when his race was put to an end by a broken tie-rod after being hit by another truck. The benefactor was the #38 truck of FMX star Brian Deegan, who finished the race in second. With the series headed back to Glen Helen’s Lucas Oil Short Course for rounds 9 and 10, only 4 points separate Renezeder and Deegan.

They aren’t the only ones threatening for the top spot, however. Behind Deegan is a who’s who of off-road motorsports superstars, with Greg Adler in third, MacCrachren in fourth, Naughton in fifth, and Supercross star Jeremy McGrath in sixth.

Rounds 9 and 10 at Glen Helen Raceway could bring the best racing of the series so far. Carl Renezeder has a history of finishing well at Glen Helen Raceway’s Lucas Oil Short Course, and he’ll be anxious to make up for his mishaps in Utah. But Deegan and the rest of the field will be hot on his heels, looking to make up even more ground.

We hope to see you out at the track this August 6-7. Not only will there be great racing, but Glen Helen Raceway has expanded their parking capacity and provided the perfect venue for off-road racing of this caliber. With off-track activities, giveaways, and more, this won’t be an event to miss!
